Improving Students’ Ability In Using Preposition Of Place Through Direction dialogue

This research was aimed to know whether the students’ ability in using preposition of place could be improved through direction dialogue. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR) to solve students’ problem in understanding preposition of place. This investigate was be held in two cycles in which each consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students of SMK Harapan Mekar 2 Medan 2019/2020 academic years which consisted of 41 students. The data were gathered through quantitative and qualitative data. The result of this research showed that there was increasing of students’ English grammar in using preposition of place. The mean of pre-test was 52. The mean of the first post-test was 72.75. The mean of the second post-test was 84.02. It indicated that the scores and the mean in second cycle were better than the first cycle. The percentage of students who got point >75 also grew up. In the pre-test, the students who got point >75 up were 9 students (19.51%). In the post-test of cycle I the students who got point >75 up were 22 students (53.65%). The post-test of cycle II, the students who got point >75 were 34 students (82.92%). In other words, the students’ English grammar in using preposition of place improved and became well in the first meeting to the next meeting.
